滿清王朝，在台灣的統治算是殖民統治嗎？很多人對這問題的認識都是似是而非的。
筆者只說兩點。清朝統治台灣211年，台灣總共出了26個進士，大多數都有在北京為官的經驗，有一些品佚還不低，其他到福建考取舉人的更是不勝枚舉，也就是說台灣人跟內地所有省份的人是一樣的，有資格參加帝國的公職考試及擔任官職，沒有任何差別。
其二，台灣的行政制度，基本上與內地完全相同，台灣府下轄各縣，除了後山地區有所謂的特別州作為一種臨時過度的單位之外，其餘基本上都一樣。後來，行政區隨著人口的增加不斷重新劃分，也與內地的制度基本一致。待1885建省之後，台灣的行政區內地化已經全部完成。
日本統治台灣，在台灣執行的是軍事統治體制，與日本內地完全不同。日本人擁有考試以及選舉的權利，台灣人基本沒有，學校教育體制與內容更是完全不同。台灣人在日本帝國下的地位，甚至於不如朝鮮人，更遠遠不如中國東北人。這，才是真正的殖民統治。
這麼簡單的道理，居然很多台灣人故意視而不見，在那裡胡扯什麼，滿清統治時期是殖民統治。

The question is not whether the Qing government in Taiwan was a “colonial" one. The real question is this: was the entire Qing regime in mainland China a foreign, alien political force that had, for most intents and purposes, colonized Han society, on the mainland? The answer is: YES, it was.
Manchus are not Chinese, they are as alien to us as the Japs and the Mongol dahluu are. If you unificationists continue to insist that the Manchus are Chinese, then in my view, you have just jettisoned all self-respect.
It’s only after you unificationists are able to take a hard look at yourselves in the mirror, and admit [as I have, to myself] that the entire Qing dynasty is a debacle for us ethnic Han Chinese, that the very historical fact of the Qing is a disgrace that should eternally shame all of us Han Chinese, that you can begin to live a life of self-respect.

Country refers to land, people and culture. Different dynasties (ancient Chinese word) or regimes (modern word) were established in China’s land, nation and culture. Therefore, China has continued to today from the establishment to the end of different dynasties. No matter what nationality brings to China how much disaster, such as massacre of Chinese people and eradication of Chinese culture, as long as its regime is established (founded) to perish (destroyed) in Chinese land, its descendants will be born in Chinese land, growing up after its demise, it can be said that this regime is a dynasty in China, and its descendants are one of the Chinese nation. As for the disaster, there is no need to deny it, nor to publicize it, only to make a descriptive record.
China is not a colony of the Yuan and Qing dynasties, because the Yuan and Qing dynasties were established and ended in Chinese land, and they are not countries outside of China. After the fall of the Yuan and Qing dynasties, descendants of the Mongols and Manchus were born and growing up in China. Therefore, the Yuan Dynasty and the Qing Dynasty are two dynasties in China, and the Mongols and Manchurians are one of the Chinese ethnic groups.

清朝是在中國土地成立至滅亡，是中國的朝代，不是中國以外的國家。台灣是中國土地，清朝是以中國朝代統治台灣，所以不是殖民統治台灣。
日本有自己的土地，不是在中國土地成立至滅亡，故日本是中國以外的國家。日本以外來的國家佔領台灣，其後中國人奪回國家管治權，日本返回日本本土。所以，日本是殖民統治台灣。
