日前讀了Friedrich Wang的《抹紅老友的台灣悲哀》，我頗覺感同身受而心有戚戚焉，因為我也有些雖然不同但有點類似的遭遇。
我念的大學與市區頗有距離，同班的同學們都住校或租屋住在學校附近。不像都市有五花八門的活動，當年同學們的活動大多環繞著共同的班級和學校，因此彼此互動多而感情特別好。畢業快五十年了，在智慧手機問世以前，同學們的日常聯繫大致分為两群，在台灣的和在美國的。到人手一支智慧手機的時候，在台和在美的同學們很快形成一個Line群組，老友們於是可以隨時互動交流，不亦樂乎！
筆者自認為是和平的、理性的統派。統派者主張，兩岸應該統一，而統一對兩岸双方都好。和平的統派主張，兩岸應該走向和平的、不發生戰爭的統一。理性的統派主張，理性的看待兩岸，不盲目的崇信台灣的選舉民主制度，也不盲目的崇信對岸的黨政合一制度；世上沒有完美的政治制度，不同的政治制度可以並存，而持續尋求改進。
由於統派在台灣少有發言的管道，而且多數的台灣媒體報導大陸時並不公允，甚至時常刻意抹黑大陸（有些是跟從美歐的媒體），筆者和一些志同道合者因此合作經營「奮起」網站，以作為統派的發聲管道，並試圖呈現對岸的真實狀況（當然也有一些無關政治的文章）。我也時常在「奮起」發表一些政論文章。
退休後寫點政論文章，可算我的生活寄託，大概就像有些人喜歡拍照，於是到一些旅遊景區拍很多相片吧。我不時把所寫的政論文章（其實是文章的鏈接）貼上老同學們的Line群組，就像有些同學常貼出他們所拍的相片。雖然統派在台灣人中是少數，我不怕表達內心裡的政治態度，並且樂意與同學們進行理性的討論和交流。
可惜事與願違。有一位老同學，看來是狂熱的民獨支持者，時常讀了我的政論文章就發飊，在Line群組內對我惡言相向，作人身攻擊。雖然我寫政論文章都是說理而絕無惡言，但是受到惡毒的人身攻擊，我不可能忍住不還擊，Line群組的氣氛於是變得很不好。在此情況，有些同學會發言勸架，或勸告民獨同學別出惡言，或勸告我別貼出政論文章，而後者比前者多。這顯然是因為多數同學反對兩岸統一，於是希望我不要貼出支持統一的文章。其實我只是貼出文章的鏈接，不想讀文章的同學大可略過不讀，同學們這樣都不能容忍，我因此憤而退出Line群組。
老同學都不能容忍不同的統獨意識，令人難過。言論自由的名言：「我不同意你的觀點，但我誓死捍衛你說話的權利。」親如老同學都做不到，遑論一般人。言論自由實是達不到的理想，台灣人更別自詡多有言論自由吧！世人偏狹，不能容忍不同的意識形態，怎會有世界和平啊？

So you fancy yourself “理性的統派". I think that term is an oxymoron. It’s like saying you’re a Jewish Nazi, or a racial segregationist who loves AFrican American people. You can’t be a rational person who respects basic humanity, and be a unificationist at the same time. To be a unificationist, by definition, means you are a political Chinese supremacist, meaning that you take it ON FAITH that a monolithic Chinese political system that allows no room for regional, let alone individual, autonomy is the best thing for all ethnic/cultural Chinese people, and that, again ON FAITH, all Chinese people should and must surrender and submit themselves to this all subsuming concept of “China". Given all that, in Taiwan, to say that you are a unificationist is the same as saying you regard yourself as racially and ethnically superior to us real, benshengren, bio-Taiwanese, and that ours is an ethnicity and culture inferior to your bona fide waishengren “Chinese" identity, and that by buying into unification, we benshengren could at least halfway redeem ourselves as semi-Chinese, but we shouldn’t expect to be taken seriously because we are, after all, not waishengren, not really Chinese. In short, the unificationist stance is just racism, pure and simple.
And you wonder why we bio-Taiwanese don’t want unification? I think you are feigning ignorance or naivete when you express shock and surprise that we don’t want your unification. Nobody in their right mind would. No self-respecting person would.
No matter how much you dress it up, no matter how much you might use erudite language to “rationalize" unification, racism is still racism. I think you know that you’re racist towards us benshengren, but you’re just not honest or courageous enough to say it out loud, that you hate Taiwanese.
