1. above is very easy to refute. I don’t think you’re going to approve/publish this post because it’s really going to piss you off.
1. The first political regime ever, that is based on the Chinese mainland, to politically and militarily incorporate and subsume Taiwan within a mainland-based political system, is the Qing. The Qing is led by a Manchu family/clan and the Manchus are an alien ethnicity not ever considered “Chinese", not even now. Even they don’t consider themselves Chinese. I personally despise the Manchus, but that is another discussion. The only time period, ever, in the history of the world, when a Chinese mainland-based regime had legal jurisdiction over Taiwan, where that regime was indisputably, bona fide “Chinese", was 1945-1949, less than *four* years. this was the time period between the end of WWII, when Chiang’s Nationalist government still had China, and when they were expelled from China, in 1949, and forced to take refuge in Taiwan. In 1949, Chiang’s Nationalist government ceased to be a “mainland-based" regime. So, think about it: *4* years, out of a supposed 5000 year-old history. 4 years doesn’t entitle any “Chinese" regime to claim Taiwan. This is as thin a claim as the Jewish claim that their ancestors inhabited Palestine 2000 years ago and so they’re entitled to own Palestine, now, in 2023.
Actually, no, you’ve completely misunderstood the psychology of us Taiwanese indépendantistes. It’s not really out of a sense of “grievance" that we want Taiwanese independence, as you claim. Maybe *you* are the one acting on a sense of grievance when you hate the TAiwanese, hate us. We want Independence because as we see it, “Chinese" mainstream culture as it has developed, in the last two hundred years or so, has nothing that is inspirational, or uplifting. There is nothing in mainstream, late-stage imperialistic Chinese culture that inspires us Taiwanese to see ourselves as part of any sublime project bigger than our individual selves. It’s just every-man-for-himself corruption and dastardly behaviour. We want to break free and we want to blaze our own trail. We want to be human, in the fullest sense of the word, and not be sucked into the futile, hollow project of national “rejuvenation" that all you waishengren unificationists have been harping on and on about for the last hundred years or so, and that is bound to fail.
